Description
NAPE -Support for Market Surveillance investigates test methods for the energy label. This is intended to support market surveillance, create more transparency and increase consumer confidence in energy efficiency labelling. NAPE means "National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency" of the Federal Government.

Objective
The energy efficiency of products in Europe, regulated by the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) and the Framework Regulation on Energy Labelling (EU) 2017/1369, is indicated on the energy label.
Standardised measuring methods are used to determine the product information on the energy label.
BAM activities focus on the examination of test methods to improve reliability of product tests and to ensure independent testing by market surveillance.
For this purpose, BAM coordinates and evaluates round robin tests and cooperates with external specialists. Optimisation proposals based on the results of the tests are brought into the relevant standardization committees to improve test standards.
Partners and funding institutions
The project implements a measure of the "National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency" (NAPE) of the Federal government.
BAM cooperates with independent accredited testing institutes.
